Mr. Maynard has 29 years experience as a transactional lawyer in real estate and oil and gas matters and the formation, governance, financing, acquisition and sale of investment vehicles, as well as direct interests in real estate and oil and gas assets. He has extensive experience in representing the interests of borrowers in financing transactions.

Representative Experience

  • Has worked on the investment vehicles and the financing, as well as the underlying real estate, construction and leasing transactions involved in the construction of three high rise structures in the central business district of Houston, Texas.
  • Drafted tunnel connection, construction and operating agreements related to several such high rise buildings resulting in a major extension of the unique underground tunnel and over-street pedestrian bridge connection system in downtown Houston.
  • Has represented both landlords and tenants in a variety of leasing transactions involving single and multi-tenant office towers, ground leases, retail centers, warehouse and industrial facilities.
  • Has worked on all aspects of capital formation, acquisition, subdivision, construction and sale of a multi-use land development built around a golf course with adjoining single family and cluster home subdivisions as well as commercial reserves.
  • Has represented land owners in negotiations involving land use over and adjacent to major underground pipelines, seismic testing licenses, oil and gas leases, drillsite designations, exploration and production activities.
  • Has drafted, amended and been involved in the enforcement of a variety of restrictive covenants involving both residential and commercial properties, as well as establishment of condominium and timeshare regimes.
  • Has participated in the negotiation and documentation of a variety of oil and gas transactions involving construction, chartering and sale of offshore drilling equipment, acquisition, development and sale of onshore and offshore leases in both federal and state waters involving dealings with the Minerals Management Service and the Texas Railroad Commission.
